Questions & Answers

You can be a winner, too.

Tee it up with Coach Glen.

Q & A

What is your typical process for working with a new student, Coach Glen?

My initial meeting with prospective students is complimentary [at no charge] in order to make recommendations based on their ability, strengths and weaknesses.

I take videos of their current swing as a baseline assessment and provide this analysis to the prospective student.

Each swing lesson is recorded in video and slow sequencing photos that are posted on this website under their own tab. I critique the images so my students can visually see how their swing looks and they learn from my comments. These visuals are a very valuable part of the student's lessons.

I also provide my Firecracker Tee at our first meeting and I explain why it is better than any other tee on the market—for longer and straighter drives. Each student is offered a free copy of The Officials Rules of Golf manual, and free range balls are included with every lesson.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a certified professional golf teacher and member of the United States Golf Teachers Federation. The USGTF is the world's leading and largest association of golf instructors.

In addition, I have extensive training from PGA professionals in Texas and Florida. I've had a variety of swing coaches and have participated in weekend and weeklong clinics in Florida, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

I teach proper swing techniques for accuracy, distance and consistency. Students learn each segment of the swing from takeaway to finish. They learn how to address the ball, they learn their proper posture for their specific height and weight and they learn to increase their speed through the impact zone...and they learn to how to square the club face at the moment of impact. Everything I teach is simple, natural and with minimal movements.

My training also extends to my special putting techniques that produce positive results. My students almost never 3-putt and often sink long putts on the first stroke because they learn to read the greens, learn to align their putts and learn to determine the proper speed for the distance for the conditions of the putt.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons?

$50/hour, no minimum, however I usually recommend my students commit to lessons as needed to accomplish their goals...but of course it's always up to my students.

I also provide my students with one free bonus lesson for five pre-paid lessons.

I will travel to the student's golf club if I am allowed to teach there. I charge $15 extra per lesson for travel to the student. There is never an extra charge when I teach at my training site—Tour 18 in Humble, TX.

How did you get started teaching?

I enjoyed taking lessons from outstanding coaches and from the very beginning was inspired to help others with their game.

I began teaching juniors and young adults. I gained a reputation for my ability to coach at all levels of golf from beginners to advanced players. Word of mouth recommendations have been my best source for new students.

What types of students have you worked with?

Beginner, intermediate and advanced players that want to improve their fundamentals including proper grip, basic setup for addressing the ball, correct takeaway, hip and shoulder pivots, inside downswing and hitting through the ball, with a nice stable finish. I teach the easiest and most reliable method of putting for consistent scoring. I also teach course strategy for advanced golfers, if requested.

I have a special, more intense golf program, for those that play competitive high school golf, especially  those who are serious enough to want play golf in college and potentially earn a scholarship.

What questions should students think through before talking to you about their needs?

I want them to have some goals in mind such as the ones below. There could be many others.

What do you want to accomplish? Do you just want general improvement, better putting, consistent chipping, straighter and longer drives? Do you  need to increase distance off the tee? Need to improve accuracy? These are realistic goals that I can help my students with. Are you looking to earn a scholarship, or just be a better team player?

I've helped many golfers improve their games and I begin by analyzing a student's strengths and weaknesses and I help them set realistic goals for themselves.
